
A Russian ballerina from the world-renowned Mariinsky Theatre wearing full costume performs scenes from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake… not on stage although, however on the frozen Gulf of Finland.
That is Ilmira Bagrautinova’s approach of objecting towards the development of a port in Batareinaya Bay, a well-liked seashore about 100 km west of St Petersburg, Russia’s second largest metropolis.
Bagrautinova danced in -15C and posted her movies on-line. As she explains to BBC Russian’s Ekaterina Venediktova, she hopes her efficiency will save actual swans which nest within the bay.
