
Former BBC director normal Tony Corridor has mentioned it was the “improper judgement” in hindsight to not sack journalist Martin Bashir over his behaviour within the run-up to his 1995 interview with Princess Diana.
“I trusted a journalist… we, the group, gave him a second likelihood, and that belief was abused and misplaced,” Lord Corridor advised the Digital, Tradition, Media and Sport (DCMS) committee of MPs on Tuesday.
He additionally mentioned he was “sorry for the damage prompted”.
A current report by former decide Lord Dyson criticised Bashir’s “deceitful” actions and Lord Corridor’s “woefully ineffective” investigation.
