A Cookstown teenager has teamed up with the Afghan Ladies’s Orchestra to star in a music video geared toward peace-building and supporting ladies’s rights.
Cara Monaghan will carry out on the track Gham Be Haya with Afghanistan’s first ladies’s orchestra – also called Ensemble Zohra – as a part of a partnership with native charity Past Pores and skin, funded by the Group Relations Council.
Since recording the track, the Ministry of Training in Afghanistan has banned women older than 12 from singing in public arenas.
The marketing campaign #IAmMySong has been launched to reverse this resolution.
Cara, who’s 16, has had a coronary heart situation since delivery.
She underwent life-saving surgical procedures as a toddler and mentioned the situation led her to find her ardour for music.
